Financial Literacy
- Financial literacy is a crucial life skill that every high school student and young adult should acquire as they enter the workforce, empowering them to make informed financial decisions. It foresters a culture of responsibility and independence, providing a foundation for long-term financial security, not from luck but wise choices.
- The financial literacy program “Money Matters” aims to equip the youth with basic knowledge and tools necessary to make informed decisions, manage money wisely, cultivate responsibility, and attain a secured financial future. The Money Matters course material is developed based on conversations with young adults to understand what they wish they had known about money before they started working. It is structured as eight coaching and discussion sessions with two facilitators from the Foundation.
- The program is slated to roll out to Clark County School District high schools as part of the 2024-2025 curriculum, starting August 2024.

Wellness Enhancement Post-cancer Treatment Care
- Exercise and nutrition interventions following cancer treatment are crucial for improving overall well-being, managing treatment-related side effects, and enhancing quality of life. By integrating exercise and nutrition interventions into post-cancer care, individuals can optimize their health and well-being as they transition into survivorship. Working closely with kinesiology and exercise professionals, personalized plans that meet individual needs are developed to promote long-term health and recovery.
- Evidence suggests that regular physical activity is an important component of cancer survivorship care and may help reduce the risk of cancer recurrence and improve outcomes for cancer survivors. More research is needed to understand the mechanisms underlying the link between exercise and post-cancer treatment care. However, it’s essential for individuals to consult with their healthcare providers before starting any exercise program.
- Through a partnership with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, School of Integrated Health Sciences, Movement Fitness serves as an education affiliate of the school starting in 2024. The program offers its students practical, clinical training and experiences utilizing Movement Fitness as part of post-treatment wellness enhancement activities. Individualized student/participant assignments and activities are arranged to maximize participant wellness enhancement and student education benefits.

Healthy Living
- Exercise in drug and alcohol treatment programs offers a spectrum of benefits crucial for recovery. Physically, it enhances cardiovascular health, strength, and weight management, often neglected during addiction. Emotionally, it reduces stress, serving as a natural mood lifter and distraction from cravings. Routine exercise establishes healthy habits, filling time constructively and minimizing relapse risks. As individuals achieve fitness goals, self-esteem and confidence improve, fostering a positive mindset. Moreover, group activities foster social support and camaraderie which are crucial in the recovery journey. Exercise also enhances cognitive function, aids mental clarity and reduce cravings. Overall, integrating exercise into treatment programs improves physical health, promotes mental well-being, and supports sustained recovery efforts.
- Movement Fitness understands the importance of holistic wellness, especially for those on their journey to recovery from substance abuse. The facility isn’t just about exercise; it’s a supportive community dedicated to fostering physical, emotional, and mental well-being. Since August 2020, hundreds of program participants, through the Foundation and local rehab center operators, have already integrated this important aspect as part of their daily routines.
